New online mental health service in north Cumbria

A new service offering free online support to anyone aged 16 and over facing increased anxiety and other mental health challenges has been made available to people in north Cumbria.

Togetherall provides online peer-peer support, access to an anonymous community and lots of information, as well as courses and resources covering a range of mental health and wellbeing topics.

Dr Mandy Boardman is the GP lead for mental health for NHS North Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said: “We know that the experiences of covid-19 and the impact of lockdown will have a big effect on how people are feeling and coping with everyday life.

“Togetherall has been around for a while and provides online support for people who may be feeling overwhelmed and worried. As well as information and support, it also has a range of resources and some really useful courses to help people better understand their feelings and how they can manage them.

“It’s free for anyone aged 16 and over who lives in north Cumbria and you access it by entering your postcode into the website. It means people can access it from anywhere and at any time of the day or night.”

Henry Jones, CEO of Togetherall commented: “I am delighted to expand the availability of Togetherall to residents of north Cumbria. Population wide support for mental health has become ever more important during the last few months, where the residents have had to cope with feelings of isolation, anxiety and now the uncertainty of life beyond lockdown.

“Togetherall is a safe space where residents can express themselves and join a community of people. Whether young or old, everyone can benefit from connecting with others from all walks of life to get support and feel better.”

The service is already being used in south Cumbria where the feedback has been very positive. The online mental health resource was formerly known as Big White Wall and has been re-branded as Togetherall. The service is clinically managed and professionally moderated 24 hours a day.
