The GI Genius technology has been installed in Remedy’s modular units in Blackpool Victoria, Cumberland Infirmary and Royal Gwent Hospitals.
Remedy Healthcare Solutions has become the first UK insourced clinical services provider to install GI Genius AI Polyp Detection Machines in its modular units across England and Wales.
This revolutionary technology, designed by medical device company Medtronic, utilises artificial intelligence (AI) to increase polyp detection during colonoscopy. It has shown to increase adenoma (a specific type of polyp) detection rates by up to 14 per cent, thus improving rates of colorectal cancer detection and ensuring patients can access vital care sooner.
With waiting lists for endoscopy services having increased significantly in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and rising demand for health and care services exacerbating existing pressures on the NHS and its workforce, this innovative technology will help to support early detection and treatment.
Dr Steve Fox, Clinical Development Director at Remedy, said:
“Our patients have always been at the heart of everything we do, and this cutting-edge technology will empower our clinical teams to detect colorectal cancers at an earlier stage. It’s a huge step forward for Remedy’s endoscopy service and we are looking forward to seeing the positive impact of this revolutionary equipment for many years to come.”
James Wood, UK and Ireland Country Manager for Gastrointestinal, Medtronic:
“Medtronic is delighted to partner with Remedy by supplying our unique Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology – GI Genius. It is a privilege to have been selected as the preferred provider of an Al solution aimed at detecting colorectal lesions and to support such an innovative healthcare organisation focused on delivering the highest possible levels of care to patients.”
